Meta Platforms is in advanced talks to recruit Nat Friedman, former GitHub CEO, as part of its aggressive push into artificial intelligence. The discussions, reported by The Information, also include Daniel Gross, Friedman's investment partner at NFDG. Meta may acquire a portion of their venture fund to secure their expertise.

The MOVE underscores Meta's determination to compete in the intensifying AI race. Last week's $14.8 billion investment in Scale AI—its second-largest commitment ever—signals the company's willingness to deploy substantial capital. Alexandr Wang, Scale AI's CEO, has already joined Meta to lead a specialized "superintelligence" team.

Friedman brings existing familiarity with Meta through his role on its external Advisory Group. His potential hiring reflects the industry-wide scramble for top AI talent as tech giants jockey for dominance in foundational models and infrastructure.
